ZeRo Posted October 12, 2002 Posted October 12, 2002 well i know an exercise to increase reaction time, stand in front of the T.V and everytime the camara angle change or pans pull a technique your working on or just any technique. this wasnt my idea, someone else in KF.com posted it i just remember it.
G95champ Posted October 12, 2002 Posted October 12, 2002 It comes with practice. We use a bull in the ring drill. Where the class circles a person and when I call a persons number they attack with a punch. (ONLY ONE) This could come form anywhere. The person in the middle has to ID the attacker and try and block the attack. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
Red J Posted October 13, 2002 Posted October 13, 2002 We use a bull in the ring drill. Also known as the "Dragon Circle". Excellent drill when you've got a few people to work with. I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
LeaF Posted October 13, 2002 Posted October 13, 2002 some good ole ippon kumite (step sparing) can do wonders. Just get a partner. Stand in ready stance (feet shoulder weith apart and arms by your side) then get your partner to get ready with their left side forward and left arm out. They can either throw a front kick or a punch (while steping through ) and you have to react will the corrsponding block, when this becomes to easy blindfold yourself. BlueDragon1981 Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 Comes with practice is also my view. Look at some boxers train. They use a ribbon or robe tied from one end of the room to the other. They then bob up and down going on each side. This teaches you to get your head out of the way of a punch. Watching the exercises boxers do can increase your arm reflexes and head reflexes. To increase the leg reflexes may be a little harder. Just practicing and increasing your leg strength will be the biggest factor on this one. (Not bulk lifting, but endurance lifting.) Having something that can give you resistance on your leg while you kick can help but be careful.
rabid hamster Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 Try doing those hacky sack things. You can buy them but what I do is cut a sock, put uncooked rice in it. Then tie it up and tape it with duct tape. Then toss it straight into the air, and as it comes down don't let it touch the floor. Instead hit it with the inside part of your foot. Keep doing that. It's harder then it sounds at first but you should get better. It is only with the heart that one can see clearly, for the most essential things are invisible to the eye.
Bon Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 Plyometric exercises are the bomb. Do a search for plyometric exercises in this forum, or go to google.com and do a search. It takes sacrifice to be the best. There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy.
CTpizzaboy Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 Fast reflexes comes from the coorelation of both your eyes and hand. First you have to recognized what is being thrown at you(i.e. punch, roundhouse to the head, sidekick to the ribs...)before you can react. The only way to decrease the time between recognizing and reacting is through practice. Buy a speed bag or timing bag, which will help your hand reflexes. For faster legs try sprinting. Run on grass. Canh T.I often quote myself. It adds spice to my conversations.
