cheesefrysamurai Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 This whole story is very strange to me. Someone makes accidental contact so you got a free shot? With a knee strike? You need to leave this academy immediately. Your instructor isn't qualified. That's my professional opinion. To allow anyone who is new and has very little control throw a knee strike into anyone else as "payback" is neglectful at best. Next, learn your anatomy. You're thinking you hit in the ribs. But what should concern you is what's under the ribs. Most people move to their opponent's right side and bring in the knee. This is because most people naturally carry their right side in the back (right handed). This means your knee strike, while connecting with the ribs, would actually be a liver shot. This is one of the most painful things a person can experience. It's not on you. You didn't know. But it's clear that your "sensei" doesn't understand the importance of taking care of training partners and students. Leave immediately and find another place to train. My $0.02I like this answer! As others have said, just because he knows his art, and can win a competition doesnt mean hes qualified to teach. - poor decision on his part. TheGrim123321 Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 The town I live in has 500 people. Theres only one dojo and it came here not so long ago. This is my only option to train theres only one sport at my school and its baseball. So I dont care if he qualified or not. Im becoming a fighting machiene. cheesefrysamurai Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Your priorities are your business. That being said, be warned- his advice is not that of a Sensei.Always be humble, never ever intentionally hurt someone who isn't actively trying to cause you or a loved one bodily injury. Accidents are accidents, and never a cause for retaliation. Be a good sport. That Sensei in karate kid was wrong for telling him to sweep the leg, and he was wrong for carrying it out.Good luck Nothing Worth Having Is Easily Obtained - ESPECIALLY RANK
TheGrim123321 Posted July 12, 2014 Author Posted July 12, 2014 I talked to my sensei and he said he ment it entirley as a joke and I was not suppose to knee her. "You don't buy a Black Belt, You become a Black Belt." - My Sensei
sensei8 Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I've said this about as much as I've touted Proof Is On The Floor, and that is...Not all BB can teach, nor should they!! **Proof is on the floor!!!
sensei8 Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I talked to my sensei and he said he ment it entirley as a joke and I was not suppose to knee her. This is akin to horse-playing, and it shouldn't ever happen, and this is why accidents occur. Not funny, imho. **Proof is on the floor!!!
Archimoto Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 @TheGrim: I'm glad that you posted this experience because it can be a great learning moment for a young martial artist. I'm curious, what is your take-away from this experience, or even perhaps from this thread? To quote the great Bob Marley: "LOVE IS MY RELIGION"
