Hawkmoon
Posts I've put up previously about up-coming tournaments have all shown me getting all excited and fidgety and struggling to contain myself waiting for the day to arrive, well another date has been set for an upcoming tournament and ... Yup!my name is down and I'm all fidgety again! BKK British Open Knockdown Tournament 2014 Incorporating the 6th Cup of EuropeSaturday 11th Octoberhttp://www.bkk-britishopen.co.uk/This one is a big one for me not because its clearly a national tournament, that's bad enough, no this tournament will mark the end of my 'novice' fighter status! After this tournament if I wish to compete I do so as an 'Open' fighter! (Mind you in saying that, at my age this may signify the end of my fighting career! ...time maybe for me to consider kata tournaments again and look towards a future shodan grading !) “A human life gains luster and strength only when it is polished and tempered.”Sosai Masutatsu Oyama (1923 - 1994) Founder of Kyokushin Karate. Hawkmoon
A hand full of us have started the build up to the tournament earlier than normal! As in we started last week!Shihan and sensei were proud (surprised) just how many of us that was!So were we to be honest, we expected the usually names, but as many others stepped up to be considered/counted as well! Its a real pride moment, for the club, the guys, the BBs ... truly is! . (no tears ..no ...no ...no ....no ... )We had a great showing at the regional tournament, then we sent three 1st Kyus to grade to shodan, they passed, and in passing our dojo is now in the top five dojos in the UK for registered BBs. New blood coming through form the juniors to the senior class are still coming back for more! ... with the nationals coming the buzz in the dojo is ... well ... deafening! No matter what the result the bond the drive the spirit being shown...I feel and have to say we have already won, 2014 was a great year! The nationals will be a bonus, no matter what happens! Nidan_Melbourne, trust me when I say 'if' I do well I'll be possibly a little 'happy/proud' about it and will post something! Hawkmoon
Morning all, ... well ... I'm alive and sadly this will be a short reported I'm afraid! My guy was fast with his legs, I mean real fast! He kicked like you or I would blink!I lost on points in the end, for all my desire to get in close and so out of his kicking range, he was fast as such it was pretty much all I could do to stay on my feet!He made it to the semi-finals, he was a tough cookie!Russian I think he was!It was a good day overall, and a day with more than its fare share of upside down results which was as strange as it was unexpected! Individuals you would expect to stay the coarse being knocked out early on and names you'd not heard before going further then expected! Thanks for your kind words and support guys!Osu!Edit: Correction! Just checking over the results, my guy won! “A human life gains luster and strength only when it is polished and tempered.”Sosai Masutatsu Oyama (1923 - 1994) Founder of Kyokushin Karate.
