Nidan Melbourne Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 One of my friends did the shito-ryu version of seeiunchin. So my shito-ryu friends what is your opinion on how he went?
sensei8 Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Well, I'm not a Shito-ryu karateka, but allow me to make a brief comment, if I may. He did quite well; focused, timed, and direct. This kata is dear to me because this kata teaches quite a lot of close range techniques that are the staples of Shindokan.Thank you for sharing!! **Proof is on the floor!!!
Harkon72 Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 This is a good Kata, the key is that the height of the stances are consistent and that the focus and kime throughout is direct and again consistent. I'm not sure if the karateka is aware of the bunkai, but the morote uke/ uraken are good and strong. To be truthful, all in all it is pretty good. Look to the far mountain and see all.

It really shows that he is a goju practitioner. He is aware of our schools bunkai for it. But I don't think he really knows the usual shito-ryu version type of bunkai or how those practitioners do those techniques, which is slightly different to the goju way
