Ryan kyu Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I have been training a while in a dojo it gives a few of these "red flags" so could someone give me a list of mcdojos in the uk
sensei8 Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 First of all, welcome to KF, glad you're here!!I believe that it would almost be impossible to generate a list of "McDojo's" because they're not going to be listed that way in any know phone book/directory that I'm aware of.Imho, the only way to know for yourself is to visit said schools of the MA and begin your own list for you to refer to. **Proof is on the floor!!!
Archimoto Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I agree 110%It's too personal a choice to rely on third party opinion. To quote the great Bob Marley: "LOVE IS MY RELIGION"

Welcome to KF!Like Sensei8 has said, you should begin your own list and go off of that. We all have our own and something might be on my list as a red flag that isn't anywhere close to someone else's. What you have to ask yourself, I think, is are you happy with what you're getting? Or, are you becoming dissatisfied with something in your organization? Martial arts training is 30% classroom training, 70% solo training.https://www.instagram.com/nordic_karate/
Nidan Melbourne Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 There's no list of all mcdojo's out there. You just have to go visit schools to find out
Kanku65 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Of you don't mind me asking, what are some of these red flags you've observed? To search for the old is to understand the new.The old, the new, this is a matter of time.In all things man must have a clear mind. The Way: Who will pass it on straight and well?- Master Funakoshi
mal103 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Of you don't mind me asking, what are some of these red flags you've observed? It's a well discussed topic on here so look down the page a bit or search. Generally it's the Dojo's that put profit before skills, people grading automatically or adding extra "half" grades. You could say that we are all mostly mcDojo's for doing a 10 grade system to Black belt but it depends where you think traditional is.
