sensei8
To walk away as the sunsets, when it finally does, in the far horizon with the knowing that I've done my best for my students, Shindokan, our Hombu, and for my Dai-Soke!The earning of platitudes and the like, have never really been that important to my MA betterment. However, I've earned my fair share though. They came whenever they came, and as that part of my MA life ended, they didn't define me. I always kept them in a proper perspective. My ultimate MA goal? Well, I 've gotten that already, and in that, I get that everyday! To see the "Aha" moment smile from any MAist, and not just from my own students. The MA will always be in my life forever. It's not been wasted!! **Proof is on the floor!!!

CredoTe
To train another 4 decades.Absolutely... To keep the journey going; to gain wisdom in the journey; when inevitable forks in the paths come my way, to have enough wisdom to know when to turn down a fork or pass on by and keep going... Shizentai
It used to be that I was concerned with what I could get out of my MA experience. I wanted to become strong. I wanted to be special. I wanted to not lose at things anymore. ...but goals like that have an expiration date, something I find unfitting to constitute the entirety of a martial artist's journey. Now I feel like the only thing I really want to do is watch. I want to be an observer of the great people and places and events that I have the pleasure of experiencing. I want to watch it all, and digest it, and then I want use what I've seen to share this experience with others. Maybe one day I'll be a full sensei, but I don't know if that's really my style. for right now I have reached my goal. Now I enjoy being the substitute, the senpai. It's true, I am the reflection of others, yet never have I been more myself. "My work itself is my best signature."-Kawai Kanjiro

Archimoto
MA has helped me become a better person physically and mentally - I can't emphasize this enough. In this regard my goal is to continue my MA journey and to pass it on to others, especially my children. Zimlock
I have this really deep-rooted urge to understand and learn as much as I possibly can- perhaps in a similar way to Aikido, I achieve such a mastery of karate and aikido and have such a deep knowledge of the body that I never have to actually hurt another person in my life. sensei8
Self defense is the main goal for me !First of all, welcome to KF; glad that you're here!!Self-defense can be taught, and is taught throughout the world, and in that, learning the basics and then some can be enough to sustain the methodologies of self-defense. Then, learning how to put all of the individual techniques to use when called upon during defending oneself, that's the experience...that's the journey of a MAist. **Proof is on the floor!!!
