I bought this DVD from ebay couple of weeks ago and actually today was the first time to watch it

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kyokushin-Kai-Karate-From-Beginner-To-Black-Belt-DVD-2004-NEW-ALL-REGION-/151213740049?pt=UK_CDsDVDs_DVDs_DVDs_GL&hash=item23350a9011&_uhb=1

I think its name is very deceiving (from begginer to black belt) :kaioken: as it has nothing for beginners at all  it's just showing training, competition, nothing about showing beginners how to master their basics or even how to do it in the right way!!! Its more showy than educational.

I found this one on ebay as well

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/KYOKUSHIN-KARATE-DVD-GUIDE-GOOD-STEP-BY-STEP-EXPERT-INSTRUCTION-4-BEGINNERS-NEW-/130791059330?pt=UK_CDsDVDs_DVDs_DVDs_GL&hash=item1e73c12f82&_uhb=1

Any idea if this is an educational one or not ?!!!

If not, Any suggestions for educational DVDs for Kyokushin beginners ?!

I just want an educational one to help me practicing at home in between classes (to make sure I am doing everything in the right way).

Anyone can help??!!!

It's hard for me to speak about either DVD's from your provided links because I'd have to see them myself.

The first DVD content description seems to cover beginners as well. The second DVD doesn't have any content description, so, I can't speak towards that.

I've no DVD's to suggest to you, sorry!

Keep plugging away in your training!!

:)

youtube is a fantastic resource. it really is. there are a million 5 minute lessons on there from absolutely everything from stretching to advanced kata.

As a beginner nothing is more important than stretching imho. Above average flexibility takes years. Don't wait years to start.

Wushu has amazing stretches...you should look up that as a goal.

One thing to be aware of while watching Youtube; It has highlights, yes; but it is also a large cross section of the Martial Arts world. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Some of it is useful; Some of it is Very Poor, Some of it is Dangerous. My Sensei hates Youtube; "It's full of ego and poor technique; if you copy someones Kata from Youtube; you copy their mistakes too." Youtube is a poor Sensei guys!

Look to the far mountain and see all.

Totally agree with you Harkoon72. On Youtube, I just watch videos by IKO instructors ( http://www.kyokushinkaikan.org/en/ ) otherwise I watch it for fun or knowledge but not for training or practising purposes :)

The description is deceiving as it doesn't teach you it's more like you are watching a training video.... IMO it might be good for an experienced guy to pick up bits and pieces to improve his technique but not for a beginner.

Not sure but that's my perception.

I understand. That's the beauty of perception; it's real to THAT person, and that's important across the board.

Hopefully, you'll find what you're looking for!!

Have you asked your instructor if your association do/offer instructional DVD's or if it's possible to record sessions?

Some associations that I've belonged to either have developed their own DVD's or offer online vid's that you can download. Of course, I've belonged to associations that don't too :)
