The style isn't as important as the training method.I agree with the advice of MasterPain. It's so much the style, as the approach and aim of training that needs to be looked at. Two schools within the same style, may have totally different approaches. It's down to the individual school and instructor, so you need to check them out - phone calls and web sites are of limited value in this. Visit the club, that's my advice. Good luck. It will be hard as I have only 2 schools around my home (GKR and Chitō-ryū) ...Whatever you do, choose the latter. Seriously. "It's not the style that's important, it's the practitioner. No style is superior to the other if you practice and train hard, ANY style can be effective."- Me!!!!!!!
