Harkon72 Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 My Sensei tested for his 5th Dan today. He asked for a physical test, not a time served reward. He was challenged beyond what his body and mind knew. After 5 hours of hell, the chief examiner called him forward; "We'll see you next year Sensei."The hush was deafening, he felt that he had let everyone down. The truth is that this day is the first in a year long grading. The far mountain was close but they opened a chasm before him. This is the time for rest, but over a year and a day the test really begins. Look to the far mountain and see all.
bushido_man96 Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Sounds like it should be a fun challenge! https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Nidan Melbourne Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Sounds like an amazing challenge. Even if he doesn't pass, he knows that he did his best.
andym Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Well done and pass on my congratulations for not taking the easy option. He took the risk and that was that. Just like all his students take the risk of failure when they grade. So many at your sensei's level wont take that risk, it would hurt their ego too much, so they don't rick it. It is no failure to take the risk. Bravo for taking that risk. If you believe in an ideal. You don't own it ; it owns you.
sensei8 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I concur...this test will make him a great MA/Sensei in the long run. His betterment will thank those who helped him to reach this greatness. **Proof is on the floor!!!
