chrisw08
switched to all pushups, situps, squats and pullups when available. Was wondering how much less I would be able to do with a 12 lb vest on because I found one on sale. Its got to better to add 12 lbs to my routine than none but wondering 5'9 and 185 lbs. 23% body fat max bench 150. I can do 15 perfect form pushups. How many should I be able to do if I put this on. Going to slowly increase but will just use the 12 to develop good form and little extra strength for a while.
Evil Dave
There is no magic formula to tell you how much work you can do when you add x amount of weight. You need to try it and listen to your body. You don't stop when you can't do any more pushups, it's when you can't do any more pushups with good form that you stop. Also, an option to adding weight is adding pushup variations into the mix:standard tricepschestsupermanrenegade/manmakeroff setshoulderfeet raisedto name a few variations with no equipment. DWx
The vest will undoubtedly make it harder. At that price worth the investment because you will be able to incorporate it into more than push ups: pull ups, sit ups, burpees etc. even kata training. But if you don't want to spend, you can easily increase the loading on your arms by adjusting the leverage. Just Google pushup progressions: http://functionalresistancetraining.com/exercises/push-up-progression "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
Ruben95632
You're probably doing push ups to increase your punching strength. If that's the case I would advise you do them as fast as you can .It will work your fast twitch muscle fibers and make your punches quicker if you do proper stretching and shadow boxing.
