AdamKralic
Just curious as to how popular weapon sparring at tournaments is in your area? Foam wrapped nunchaku or sword sparring?
andym
Fumio Demura's Genbukai had been pioneers in this area. Hold and promoting this type of competition. If you believe in an ideal. You don't own it ; it owns you.

Nidan Melbourne
It's banned in my area as weapons (of any kind) are tightly controlled. You require permission from the police comissioner to buy and own a weapon (ie a sword or other except for prohibited weapons where your not allowed to own them at all). so tournaments in my state don't have weapons sparring. Only weapons kata and demonstrations are allowed to utilize weapons.
Harkon72
We have no oriental weapon sparring in our area, Kendo is unheard of in North Wales. We have a few western fencing clubs though, the one at Bangor University has been successful nationally. Look to the far mountain and see all. Not quite was I was expecting; but it was a very entertaining video for sure.Just out of curiosity, what were you expecting?I have heard of Dog Brothers a lot, and I think they would be fun to train with. I'd like to get a bit more weapons experience in before jumping into something like that, though. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
MasterPain
One of my goals for later in my life is to fight in a gathering. I don't expect to ever do enough traveling to become a Dog, but I do agree with Guro Crafty's belief in the need for rites of passage. I also like their idea of the gathering not being a competition, but a way to strengthen yourself as well as the other members through the test of fighting. My fists bleed death. -Akuma

bushido_man96
I think one of the main problems with weapons training is that for the most part, people just want to twirl and swing one around, and then claim that they are trained in the use of a weapon. People don't realize how brutal a weapons fight is. It takes the realism away. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
