Harkon72 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 You have the right to defend yourself from bullies. Our Sempai is a Lady who was heavily bullied. She is a Black Belt in Kickboxing now, and a Shodan Grading awaits her in Karate in December. I will be fighting her in my grading next month; she is a powerhouse, but a lovely, kind person. Don't despair FangPwnsAll7, go for it, seek, learn, take a chance and be the best you can be for YOU. Don't measure yourself by other people's weakness, if you get hit, cry, stand and stand again. There is no shame in going down; only in not getting up. Peace, have Faith. Yours in Karatedo, someone who has fallen many times. Look to the far mountain and see all.
Nidan Melbourne Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 if it is in self defense then it doesn't matter if they are male or female. It doesn't matter what gender they don't have the right to hit you. What i do is to block and restrain the person. say they do a hook punch i block it with an elbow (stiking the shoulder), trap their arm at the shoulder then follow up by striking the jaw line (not a thrust) and guiding them to the ground. if they on their side maintain that lock and do a knee ride (knee on their side)
Hawkmoon Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 If we ignore the gender for a moment.Bullies! In one line (maybe two) what is in your opinion the best way to deal with them? “A human life gains luster and strength only when it is polished and tempered.”Sosai Masutatsu Oyama (1923 - 1994) Founder of Kyokushin Karate.

Harkon72 Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Physical Bullies and Psychological Bullies have one thing in Common; they are cowards. I avoid contact with these people, but if they begin to be a problem, I take them away from their peers and explain that I don't mean to harm them but I won't be harmed either. I don't give it so I won't take it. I won't be laid a hand on, I don't mind names; but if it effects my Loved ones, then I take it to the next level. Look to the far mountain and see all.

FighterForLife Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Hitting a female in self-defense? Your thoughts? Have you ever had an experience where you were put in that position?Hitting anyone, male or female, is about the other person's intent and context:1. Is she holding a weapon?2. Does she have a history of violence or arrest?3. Is she under the influence of drugs or alcohol?4. Does she have a group of similarly angry and dangerous female friends with her?5. Do you honestly fear for your life or safety? If yes to one or more of the above, (assuming deescalation is not an option) then lay her the hell out. https://www.kyokushinblog.comhttps://www.combatscholar.com

Though, with respect, to assume all bullies are cowards is overly simplistic and does nothing to prepare someone to deal with them. Some bullies are cowards and will back down when challenged. Some bullies WANT to be challenged so they can hit you to exert their alpha dominance. https://www.kyokushinblog.comhttps://www.combatscholar.com
Harkon72 Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I am not a bad judge of character, I try not to engage with bullies; but if one was happy to get involved with me physically, we would see how much they wanted to prove their point. As I said, I wont be laid a hand on or stand by and watch the abuse of innocents. Look to the far mountain and see all.
