Harkon72 Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Another piece of equipment you might consider is the Wing Chun wall bag. It is a canvas bag filled with sand or another material with a little give. Mine is filled with black eyed peas and rice. It conditions your knuckles and if you use the correct technique it can correct the body alignment and focus of your strike. Look to the far mountain and see all.
cheesefrysamurai Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 is a cheap one like this ok?http://www.ebay.com/itm/wing-chun-accurate-wall-punching-bag-martial-arts-punch-bags-Iron-Palm-JKD-/261178260267?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item3ccf6ffb2bor could you recommend another? Nothing Worth Having Is Easily Obtained - ESPECIALLY RANK
Harkon72 Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Yes, that looks fine. You can also get a three section one. As long as the zips are strong and the canvas is even you can't go wrong. Good Luck. Look to the far mountain and see all.
Kuma Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Whats the primary effect of using the makiwara? For strengthening the knuckles the makiwara does work but it's a secondary effect, not the primary one. Precision-wise it will help some but putting different colored targets on a heavy bag would be more effective. The makiwara is at one height and you can't train many combinations or kicks with it. The heavy bag and knuckle push-ups would be my recommendation.Developing your technique and focus/kime, to keep it simple.
vaporman Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Both, Sandbags does both at the same time. If your injuring yourself slow down your speed correct your motions. One can only hit has hard has he/she is conditioned,Safely.Initial conditioning can takes years and is generally maintained afterwards, Never mastered,It is for life. Take your time it will come, Be consistent. Inca Warriors - Warriors of the Inca people were brainwashed for many years to forget fear completely until they became fearless to everything and then they were officially a warrior.
