Fu Man Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Shotokan and Isshinryu. I honestly prefer Isshinryu, but after moving to a new state without an Isshinryu dojo nearby, I started studying Shotokan a few years ago.
Canadian77 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Ours is shotokan, but our sensei will give us flavours of other styles here and there for variety in our training. But mainly shotokan.
quinteros1963 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Okinawa Martial Arts! The past is no more; the future is yet to come. Nothing exist except for the here and now. Our grand business is not to see what lies dimly at a distance, but to do what's clearly is clearly at hand...Lets continue to train!
kensei Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I have been training Shotokan Karate for 35 years. I have a JKA roots system but my instructor has really focused our training a tad differently, more realism and less sport aspect. In the past I have dabbled alot in other styles while maintaining my Shotokan training.I have worked with Goju, Chito, Shito, Kyokushin, Wado and Uchi ryu fighters, but I would not say I would qualify to test under any of these, more like a taste of each.I also have a Black belt in Judo, trained a tad in Aikido, Kendo, Jujitsu, Jui Jitsu (just starting back at it a tad), Sambo, Wrestling and a few others. My goal is to introduce the very best I can find from those into my natural training while maintaining my Shotokan Roots. Even monkeys fall from trees
Nevinyrral Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I train shotokan A style is just a name.
