We're a small business, but we have hundreds of active dojo accounts. We don't ask them all what they do, but we chat sometimes.

Yes, it's a melting pot, but there are tendencies. Instructors tend to have jobs that allow them the time to teach. Many have jobs that end early, so they're available for kids' classes by 4:00.

In support of what others have said, the most common other occupation among our customers might be college professor. Some educators at other levels, too. Construction worker is pretty common. Law enforcement is up there. I think those are the big ones.

Well i just graduated from my masters. But i am a full time Exercise Physiologist now but i am also a full time instructor.

I find i manage both extremely well. As i finish work as an EP at 3:45 pm and i start teaching at 4 finish at 9. But i have a few clients that prefer to get treatment afterwards. So i normally finish at about 10.

One of my instructors is a personal trainer and manager at an athletic store. My other instructor worked in IT.

Both are extremely dedicated to martial arts and are very gracious in sharing their time with their students! aka me :D

my old head of school was a full time Karate Instructor with no other job. as he was busy trying to run 4 dojo's at once.
