Well if you want t increase your stamina so the best way is running. I am a footballer so i had stamina, already by the running 4 km everyday. but if u do not have a good stamina here is a tip in the begining of the race jog only and dont loose ur stamina, don't let the the racers who r overtaking tempt u to run, when about 400 mts is left start t run you may come among the top 3.

Thank you all for the good advice!

I am scheduled now for MR of my knees, and I hope there is nothing serious.

Tabata I will look up, I am doing a little bit on the ellipse-machine. :D

If your knees are up for it, I'd like to suggest...Swimming. I love it and it's a great cardio workout.

:)

I was going to suggest this as well. If you have a pool available for use, it's one of the best low impact workouts you can get.

I did 15 mins on the bike, 15 mins walking up an incline on the treadmill, 3 sets of 12 on the press machine and 10 mins on the rower followed by 5 mins cool down. That's my typical CV gym session. Not bad for an aging Karateka.

Look to the far mountain and see all.

I like tabata too - so it's a good timer for exercise. For bad knees crosscountry skiing or biking would be good - short intervals to increase intensity.

(One drill might be heavy bag workouts like "bicycle" with tabata timer.)

Rowing?

Training in the water is a old boxing "trick"

Footwork, running, burst exercises, punching...etc.

The gentle but never ending resistance of the water dramatically increases

the cardio and strength portion of fighting. I'm actually shocked that more karate fighters don't get more tips from boxers. Boxers train HARD.

Cardio is the best choice for increasing the stamina, and body strength.

You should start some regular cardio workout plan and add a combination of high and low intensity workouts to improve your fitness level and also your stamina for improving your performance in different fields.

Hi!

I was wondering if any of you had good tips for increasing stamina.

Unfortunately, due to my knees, I cannot run (outside or on a treadmill)

However, I have a FULLY equipped gym available, with a huge training hall and a lot of machines.

I also have 2 x 1 hour/weekly available during working hours i planned to use for this.

Any hints?

So how has your cardio workout gone? Any help from the posts?
