I think the difference between the wolf and the sheepdog is, on the side of the sheepdog, compassion and a code of conduct. You've got to have a bit of the wolf in you but you also need to genuinely care about your sheep. And as a protector of the sheep you need a high standard to follow to rely on when your wolfish side starts barking.

I agree with this.

And I as well. Well said.

Very nice topic and simple classification :)

I think it's applicable most of the times but do you think a sheep can turn to a sheepdogs one day ? :-?

There are two parts to that instinct: fight or flight. Many won't fight until they can't fly anymore. I'm not saying it can't be learned, but, by and large, there are a lot of people who just aren't predisposed to committing violence on another.

Team America expressed a similar sentiment, though it is too dirty a metaphor to print here.

Yes, I agree... IMHO, given enough time and circumstance, anyone can be trained to become a "sheepdog". Take a docile lady, for example, that is the victim of an assault. After said hypothetical assault, she makes a stand for herself to not ever be a victim again, and decides to train herself to be able to protect herself - presto! "Sheepdog"... I know this example is over simplistic and somewhat extreme, but there it is... :)
