"Trek up the Tower"

Recommended Posts

Is the name of a local race up the tallest building in the city that I'm thinking about doing. It's in about 3 months and I was hoping for some workout advice. Doing stair master is the obvious answer, and I'm going to be doing that, but if that's a major thing I'm doing for three months I'll probably go insane. I was also thinking about doing sets of Lunges/Step Ups with maybe 60 pounds, but I was hoping some folks here could give me some input. And it'll be too cold to go running outside here soon, so there's that.

The race is up 40 stories, 870 steps, and goes 633 feet into the sky, if you needed to ask.

If at all possible, go run the course itself a few times. I'm guessing endurance is going to be the big thing, so working it up is what you will likely want to focus on.

Good luck with it! :)

If you can't run the course, go to the bleachers at the local high school football field and run laps.,

You're crazy Wolfman08 :P j/k

Probably best thing is to run up stairs themselves. Run up them and then walk back down and then run up again. We do this a lot at training. Or find a hill and sprint up and jog back down. Biking will probably help too. Anything that works the legs. Squats? Burpees?

No, I wish, but the race's website specifically prohibits that.

Awesome, thanks. I just hope there isn't snow on the bleachers.

Snow will make running the bleachers more challenging. :) It will prepare your legs better for that heavy feeling they will get as you wear down towards the top.
