I have a question to anyone that knows or teaches taekwondo. My son goes to taekwondo 3 days a week and he is 7 years old blue belt. The instructor gets the kids to do high end physical training such as tabatas and resistence training. The kids range from 6-10 and i have noticed that after every class by about 3 hours my son can barely move. He gets to be so sore that I have taken him to the chiropractor to try and releieve some pain. Now i dont want to go and say anything to the instructor unless i know if this is normal for taekwondo instructors to be doing this type of fitness training or not.

Please help!!

With TKD you can typically expect lots of cardio stuff. In our school we do tons of tabatas type training and resistance work, even with the kids. But, its only on the odd occasion where we go full out and end up coming home sore. Usually its just the kind of workout when you wake-up the next morning a bit stiff. I'm no doctor, but I'd be a bit worried if he was coming home from ever class unable to move. How long's he been training? If he's just starting out, its probably because his body's not used to that level of work and he should get used to it. But if he's been training awhile, I'd personally be concerned his teacher's pushing too hard and too much for kids.
