Bro_Joey_Gowdy Posted August 21, 2002 Posted August 21, 2002 What is haveing lots of strenght but not enough stamina to maintain your strenght - I also agree go with cardio first!! By doing so this will also naturally boost your metabolsim, willl release emzymes all through out your body that will promote better health and self confidence. Its all about the blood flow people - try starting awith 15 minutes of cardio of any type - then gradually work that up to 20, then to 30. And dont forget about the water !! H2o all the way !! If your a newbie to getting in shape goto this site : http://www.peakconditioning.com or : http://www.healthatoz.com Enjoy!! Love and Live into Christ Jesus,Bro. SBN Doug Posted August 21, 2002 Posted August 21, 2002 I pretty much agree with everything said already. A little cardio warm up would be good. However, if you've got a good instructor, they should be able to work you in slowly, getting you up to speed, without making you over-do it. However, you can never be guaranteed to get THAT good an instructor. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
ramymensa Posted September 6, 2002 Posted September 6, 2002 Like the others said ... GO TRAIN. Don't worry for being a little chubby, no one gives a d..n in the dojo We had last year a girl in our dojo who started shotokan and was big. We came to love her and admire her because she was training as hard as she could. Well she didn't have much ballance, pushups were out of question for her and so on, but she was doing her best and sensei never said anything "bad' to her, even if she wasn't "the elite". He always smiled at her, encouraged her and helped her become better. Unfortunatelly she didn't came this year and it's her LOSS. Hope she'll come back... And for all the guys who don't apply to the 90-60-90 standard ... who cares? Be as good as you can, do MA because it's great and you'll find friends and your self esteem will grow. kirby05: PLS tell us how you find your MA training. I wish you the best ... kchenault Posted October 31, 2002 Posted October 31, 2002 Case in point, mine. I started TKD about 4 months ago after a 7 year hiatus from the arts. I weighed in at 220 lbs, and I am only 5'7". Now in 4 months of twice a week workouts, improved diet, and simply walking a couple of miles on the days I don't train(which by the way only takes about 25 minutes at my pace), I am down to 206.5 lbs! I can see the definition in my legs coming back and I feel great. I don't feel good on the days I don't get exercise now. So, what in the world am I talking about? GO FOR IT! Stop sitting around and do something. Anything. You will feel better, look better, and your body and mind will thank you. Have fun and train! Pilsung! Ken ChenaultTFT - It does a body good!

kenpo4life Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 Kill 2 birds with one stone. You can get in shape while you train. If my survival means your total destruction, then so be it.
