The BB of C Posted March 23, 2011 Author Posted March 23, 2011 The stuff that is the best for your general strength - weights and running - are the two things that I really don't enjoy doing. I've tried to get into them a number of times and it never sticks. Did anyone else ever have the same problem? If so, did you get over it or find a way around it? How did you do either one?
isshinryu5toforever Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 You can substitute body weight exercises, push ups, pull ups, squats, etc. for lifting. You will never get big, but that isn't likely a goal as a martial artist. You can also look for alternative workouts like kettlebells. As far as running is concerned, you can get a lot of benefit out of sprint workouts if you have access to a track. If anything, see if you can get into any other type of cardio. Biking and swimming are two more popular choices. You could really do any sport though, soccer, tennis, basketball, all will give you a good cardio boost. He who knows others is wise. How did you do either one?I hate running. But, I would run stairs or hills given the opportunity. I did run stairs for a time at our college collesium, and liked it better than just running. I hope to try to start doing a bit of hill running soon. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
The BB of C Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 I try to jump up four steps at a time. It doesn't always work. I'm just glad nobody was around those few times that I've fallen. I got lucky. But I do take steps at least three at a time as fast as I can. A few flights of that and I'll be feeling pretty good.
isshinryu5toforever Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 You skip steps, taking two or three at a time, for power, but you hit every step if you want quicker feet. He who knows others is wise.
