January 21, 201115 yr "learning" from a dvd is a great way to give yourself false confidence in a technique. You have no feedback from an instructor or a training partner to tell if you are doing a technique correctly. This seems like a good way to get your self in a world of hurt if god forbid, you find yourself in a combative situation.
January 23, 201115 yr Or even without a combative situation. "OK, i'm going to do a thousand kicks! I wonder why the guy turns his foot like that, oh well it can't be important.. Gee, why do my knees hurt so much?" "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly." - Baleia

January 26, 201115 yr Kamahl. You have participated in a martial arts forum for close to a year already, made over 120 contributions but still have not begun any formal martial arts training. You know that you can't learn martial arts from a dvd. You're obviously interested in martial arts and want to learn. There must be 500 different MA schools in San Diego with different prices and schedules. What is causing the procrastination? Anybody can make time to learn something they are genuinely interested in. Just do it. Unending Love,Amazing Grace
January 27, 201115 yr Author I have to see my doctor this Friday, so the doctor can appoint a sports therapists for me. I have too many sprains. I heard that people who resume from working out after a long break are more prone too injuries.
January 27, 201115 yr What have you been doing that caused all these sprains? https://www.haysgym.com http://www.sunyis.com/ https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
January 27, 201115 yr Author I couldn't exercise for a year because of lack of energy due to circumstances. When I started exercising again, I lifted weights that I couldn't handle, so I injured myself.
January 27, 201115 yr Author I saw my old martial arts instructor and he told me he could modify the curriculum for me, which depends on what I can do. The instruction price is only good if one sticks with martial arts training for a long period of time at the dojo. Monthly pay is quite high; however, the training schedule is 5 or 6 days a week and 3-4 hours long. There are also private lessons at the dojo where I trained at, but private lessons tend to be expensive. Most martial arts dojos in san diego charge a lot of money. I am a slow learner, but I want to be a good martial artists. Should I focus on a style that takes less time to be proficient in like marine martial arts and muay thai once I recover from injuries?
