Reminds me of XMA. There's a girl I had history for last year who told me of her karate background, that she had earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. She then went into XMA, and eventually ended martial arts to concentrate on Dance Troupe.

For the girl in the video, who might be well-able to defend herself when concentrating on that facet of martial arts, karate is to be enjoyed in dance and presentation. Others enjoy it as exercise.

Nice Creative Kata. That kata could be from practically any martial art that employs kata/form because it's being done in the context of the Creative Kata Division.

It does look a bit like XMA you're right, shes impressively flexible though, loved the scorpion kick in the middle :)

*ahem*..well, other than that's a typical example of the type of kata that I, personally, do a daily basis...it was pretty ok. :brow:

Well OK...maybe a bit more flexible than I am....

Anyway, she's very impressive in the flexibility and balance areas..,.but I'm a hardcore traditionalist and really hate turning the arts into a flash-fest.

I think it's Chloe Bruce too. She's the only one I've seen successfully pull off the scorpion kick in a competition. She might be the only one that can do it period. Her athleticism and flexibility are definitely impressive. I sometimes wonder about the basics of XMA competitors. Sometimes I think they concentrate really hard on impressive flips and multi-rotation spin kicks that they forget the basics.

I wonder at times, but I think that for the most part, in order for the trick kicks to be done right, the basics would have to be solid.

I'd say the basic kicks need to be solid, but not always the stances. The punches definitely don't, they just have to be there once a while. Still cool to watch.
