I always found it amusing that it was called "corporal punishment". ")

I guess a corporal had to be spanked once and the name just stuck.

:P

I still think it can be good for your students to play whack-a-mole (using a shinai) with them once in a while when they don't act right or if it's for conditioning purposes.

I guess, you had studied etymology? :idea:

From;

http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?search=Corporal+punishment&searchmode=none

corporal (adj.)

"of or belonging to the body," late 14c., from O.Fr. corporal, from L. corporalis, from corpus (gen. corporis) "body"

Nope! I was just going for the cheap laugh.

Pushups are sometimes threatened when (and this is rare) a child simply will not behave/listen/focus. There's only a couple of kids in our class though. Funny thing is the pushups arent threatened for the kid, they're for everyone else haha.

Either way it's training though, so I don't see it as much of a punishment.

It's very rare we punish students. Ocassionally my sensei has made the older children do push ups, not very often. He has that aura about him that just makes people behave around him, children and adults lol.

On the rare occasion i have had to send children to sit out for five minutes, but generally we don't dish out physical punishment.

Walk away and your always a winner. https://www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk

Evil? Yes, but effective. Besides, can you ever do too many side kicks?

Side kicks = no problem. Pushups = culprit better buy everyone dinner after class!!!

ROFL...I second the dinner thing!

:)

Did someone say dinner???? :idea:
