Some systems, mine included, have a rank called "junior black belt," that youngsters can be promoted to, then when they are of a more reasonable age, then can receive their actual black belt rank.Shall we let people under the age of 13 drive, open bank accounts, smoke, consume alcohol, etc., as well?You know.... plenty of kids DO do those things...

In practice, the rank hasn't actually been used at my school in years. We haven't had any youngsters come up for black belt in quite awhile.

November 11, 200916 yr Well none, really. But like I said, it hasn't been an issue one way or the other, because nobody under the age of about 15 has gotten near promotable in recent years. Those that have though, in the past, were just given their black belt.

BTW, A junior black belt IS a legitimate black belt, but without rank; Shodan and up! **Proof is on the floor!!!
