bushido_man96 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Stand on one leg, near a wall. Try to go as long as you can without touching the wall to regain balance, but do use it, to help get the duration up. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

It helps for strengthing that all important core.

bushido_man96 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I had not heard of the wobble board. It sounds interesting, though. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
akedm Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Also called a balance board.I looked them up on Amazon for the customer reviews. Seems like he height of the ball under the board is paramount as it'll determine the angle the board can reach.I was tempted to buy one this weekend but I'd like to hear a few more reviews (brands, etc). NewLevel Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I use a wall for helping with balance in every kata, technique, etc. A wall is VERY effective and really works. There are walls everywhere so you can train just about anywhere you want all the time! The store that I purchased it from had 2 different types, one was all plastic (which you can find in Walmart) and the other had a wood platform and plastic ball to balance on (which you can find in sporting good stores or Target) and purchase the wood one, it was harder to balance on.

JusticeZero Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Alphabets - Stand on one foot, raise one leg as per a front kick, and start writing the letters of the alphabet in the air with your toe, as large as you reasonably can. See how many letters you can do without putting your foot down to catch yourself. Requires a lot more explicit muscle control than just standing does.
