KickChick Posted July 4, 2002 Posted July 4, 2002 .... knew I would get your attention with this thread!!! "There will always be wonderful biologic differences between men and women. But let’s separate facts from, well, prejudice. Take 'this' quiz, then go out and kick some butt! " http://womencentral.msn.com/fitnesshealth/tools/strengthquiz.asp I scored 35 out of 35 .... Let's see how good you guys do .... (and you girls too!) "Since strength is proportional to the size of the muscle, men are generally stronger. But pound for pound of lean body mass, the differences in strength are minimized when females work out with weights. In fact, the average woman gains strength at a slightly faster rate than the average man does. Could it be our superior form?"
Zin-Ju Posted July 4, 2002 Posted July 4, 2002 i aint done the test yet, but mentaly i think women are stronger could a man go threw the pain of child birth?, there was a program on the BBC, where people took part in a SAS test and the women handled the intrrogation far better then the men. but strength wise i think men are far stronger i know if i was to punch a women in the face it would knock her down much easier then it would a man. women might gain strength faster but men lift more in the long run
Zin-Ju Posted July 4, 2002 Posted July 4, 2002 20 out of 35 thing is though with questions like "Are men more overweight than women?" this is based on the USA where its a known fact that the whole country is over weight im not gay but i think having a body like van damme or snipes looks better then one like bruce lee's. is van damme his ideal weight ? hes 5" 9 (i think) and 180 pounds, at my gym i was told for 5 "9 140 pounds is ideal weight. so questions like that aint fair. _________________ Shotokan Karate - White Belt Ju-Jitsu - White Belt Although We All Have Different Cultures We All Like one Thing - To Watch A Good Fight [ This Message was edited by: Zin-Ju on 2002-07-04 10:53 ]
Eye of the Tiger Posted July 4, 2002 Posted July 4, 2002 20 out of 35, and Zin-Ju no women cant take pain better then men, what are you talking about!? You punch a women she'l probobly roll around on the floor crying where as a man would just take or shout abusive language to compensate for the pain. Women are wqeaker and give in more easily to pain and fatique. The first ever women to get into the RMC got in only on her 3rd time. Women stay at home and wash the dishes
Zin-Ju Posted July 4, 2002 Posted July 4, 2002 i argee with you totally, but i meant like pyschology (spelling?), stuff like mental type things, like they reckon women can withstand torture better. although i do disargee. i said "if i was to punch a women in the face it would knock her down much easier then it would a man." i kinda think at some stuff women are better. but ive really confused myself

I was trying to shed some light on some physiological (let's leave psychology out of this!!!) aspects of muscle and strength of the sexes (points worth knowing) .... Pain has nothing to do with this .... if men were to bear children humanity would cease to exist!!! "Stay at home and wash the dishes"?????? come back to us man ... this is the 21st century!!! ... and let's be civil R-E-S-P-E-C-T~~~~ sing it Aretha! _________________ KarateForums Sensei 1st dan Tae Kwon Do (ITF) Cardio/Fitness Kickboxing Instr. Zin-Ju Posted July 4, 2002 Posted July 4, 2002 Muscle strength wise, us blokes out class women by far
KickChick Posted July 4, 2002 Author Posted July 4, 2002 Don't be so "testeroney"! "men on the average tend to have 20-30 times higher testosterone levels than women, they are able to hypertrophy or grow larger muscles. Since strength is proportional to the size of the muscle, men are generally stronger" .... "generally" .... there are some pretty "big, tough" women out there" and some "skinny, frail, outtashape" guys too. Some interesting facts on sweat, endurance and weight loss too! And as far as obesity in America (there is a thread on "Obesity" here in H&F forum) yes, the numbers are based on a poll taken here .... but over the past 20 years, Great Britain and Germany have experienced obesity growth rates similar to those in the United States. But because they started from lower levels, obesity in those countries has not yet become an epidemic-level threat to public health as it is here in America.
Eye of the Tiger Posted July 4, 2002 Posted July 4, 2002 Okay, to finalise. Women are better at spelling, men are better at everything else, escpecially martial arts j/k If your thinking of women having mental toughness they havn't got that either. They give in to physical fatigue far quicker than a man of the same fitness levels and fuss to much about everything. Take one of the newcomers at my kickboxing club. "we have to hit each other, how rough" "Oh I'm feeling a little faint I think I'l call it a day". The point I'm making is that men are tougher in every aspect of physical fitness. Women can concentrate under pressure better than men, thats why they say cthey resisted the SAS torture better.
jakmak52 Posted July 4, 2002 Posted July 4, 2002 Emotional, spiritual and mental strengths should be the governing baseline, I believe women are stronger in these respects because of social and family rearing issues, men go straight to anger/fear, skipping the hurt/embarrassed, etc.. feelings.. I also believe men are stronger in the muscle arena, however women excel in stamina and endurance, (maybe speed too ) ERA has taken the power or desire for men to be galant or chivalrous towards our counterparts for fear of reprisal...
