What to eat before a tournament?

This is very important to me; the tournament will be early in the morning so I'll be leaving a few hours before. I've been in situations where the wrong breakfast or the wrong time for breakfast gave me incredible stomach pains. How long before the second I'm in the ring should I have my breakfast and what should I/should not have?

Thank you

I like to eat really light before a tournament (normally just a piece of fruit) which is really a bad idea because it means going all day without anything else to eat. Just recently we started bringing food granola bars fruit etc.this really helped at the last one we went to. As far as eating before competing I guess it would all depend on what you eat. A small snack up to 10 minutes before competing probably wouldn't hurt.

Hope this helps. :karate:

I usually eat foods that will sustain me but not be heavy or lie in my stomach. Some examples of different light meals that I might choose from are:

toasted bagel with peanut butter

yogurt with fruit and granola

good quality energy bar

egg whites on whole wheat toast (or) 2 hard boiled eggs

oatmeal with banana

and of course, plenty of water and / or Gatorade.

I find its best to eat something slow release a couple of hours beforehand, something like oatmeal or other cereal type food. Or a lot of toast with something like peanut butter on top. Then you can top upnearer the time with something lighter like a banana.

I usually eat a big dinner late, and for breakfast I eat some fish, and that usually holds me till 6 or 7 pm that night.

Personally. I'd eat a massive meal the night before, probably pasta or something similar. If I was competing in the morning I'd eat a light breakfast with not too much milk (Maybe toast and fruit). I'd take some musli bars or fruit in case I get hungry before the event.

If I was competing in the afternoon, I'd eat a big breakfast and eat some healthy snacks during the day.

I'm probably not the best person to respond to this, but...

Before a tournament I usually eat scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast.

During the tournament I'll eat just about anything (Ham, pizza, donuts, hot dogs, tastycakes, etc).

If I did that, I'd have some terrible gas during comps. I'd have to throw out an extra kihap to cover up a fart!
