Eye of the Tiger Posted June 26, 2002 Posted June 26, 2002 There seems to be two ways to train for muscular endurance. Slow movements with a lot of stress on them like lying on your back and holding your feet 6 inches of the groung for a minute, these exercises are generally Pilates method. Others is quicker movements such as using light weights with large number of reps and swinging your arms and legs for a long period. What do you get out of these 2 different methods of training. Slow movements and using light weights normally with loads of reps. Wich one is more effective if there is one. THX in return
Jack Posted June 27, 2002 Posted June 27, 2002 Neither is more effective, they are only different. The body adapts to the stimulus you place upon it, so by performing very slow movements with little weight but a lot of tension, your body will adapt to become more proficient at doing just that. However the downpoint for martial artists in this is that the body will also see it only needs to move slowly and so speed will be lost. Mix the two up, and include pylometrics, and you would be making good gains with muscle endurance. JackCurrently 'off' from formal MA trainingKarateForums.com
