Ragnarok5727 Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 I take karate at a Joe Corley school. Recently our teacher left because many students were constantly complaining about how hard he was on everyone. In the beginning i didn't like it much but as time went on and lbs. were lost i began to like him. Then one day i came to class and found out he was gone. Just to let everyone know I'm just a lazy videogamer that needs a fire put under his a** just to execise so this teacher was perfect for me. Now it seems that at karate i don't get really motivated to work towards my potential and I'M GETTIN FAT HELP ME!!!!!!
Ti-Kwon-Leap Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 You must be deadly serious in training. When I say that, I do not mean that you should be reasonably dilligent or moderately in earnest. I mean that your opponent must always be present in your mind, whether you sit or stand or walk or raise your arms. -GICHIN FUNAKOSHI'S FIRST RULE FOR THE STUDY OF KARATE-DO. rabid hamster Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 lol.. i know how that is. try to focus on something, anything it doesn't matter what, it can be really sutpid too, as long as it gets you to exersice. It is only with the heart that one can see clearly, for the most essential things are invisible to the eye.
shotochem Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 To me it sounds like a bunch of lazy students who are not serious about their training. If its not hard work its a Mc Dojo!!! Nothing of value comes easy if something is not earned whats the point........??? Your teacher obviously had higher standards than the students. Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime.
Ragnarok5727 Posted June 27, 2002 Author Posted June 27, 2002 I'm kinda pissed that most of the students are glad he's gone. What they don't seem to understand is that good teachers like him are hard to come by. Now all we do are boring drills that do not improve my abilities. When will people learn it is good to work hard at something. P.S. thanks for the tips [ This Message was edited by: Ragnarok5727 on 2002-06-27 16:54 ]
shaolinprincess Posted July 16, 2002 Posted July 16, 2002 Well, my teacher is about to move. But since I love karate so much, and I am highly involved with it, I don't think it should matter. If you really enjoy karate, that is what should get you going. It's what you put into it...1st kyu-Okinawa Shorin Ryu Matsumura Seito Federation
