Shotokan-kez Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 If i could chose 5 to keep they would be Nujishio (cant spell it), Jion, Hangetsu, Heian Yondan, Bassai-Sho. As it happens they are my faves anyway, love practising them. Walk away and your always a winner. https://www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk

tori Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 gankaku, nijushiho, kanku dai, bassai dai, and empi Live life, train hard, but laugh often.
G95champ Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 1. Kanku Dai - simply because it has parts of the 5 heians in it. So Im getting 6 for the price of 1.2. Tekki - Pick one don't much matter but the ground work they teach must be kept.3. Sochin - Great kata for teaching the hard and soft of karate4. Bassai Dai - Great kata for teaching the hard.5. Empi - the grace, speed, throwing techinques all taught in it are very important and it carries a speed or rythem to it not many kata do. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
