Favourite Form

Recommended Posts

Whats your favourite form/kata/hyung/whatever to perfom? Whats your favourite one to watch?

My favourite one to do at the moment is Choong Jang (from the Korean Chang Hon set) but I really like Juche, I just can't do it very well. I don't really know that many forms outside of Korean sets but I also like seeing Bassai Dai done well.

My favorite to perform is the sleeping monkey form Poekoelan Chuan Fa. Mainly because it's unique to that system.

I also love to perform and watch Unsu from Karate.

Out of my Tang Soo Do system...my favorite to watch has to be the sword form...jang Gum Hyung and Kong Sang Koon representing the air the universe and beyond...which says all it needs to. My favorite to do would have to be Jin Do.

My favorite to watch in my kempo system is Shodanqua...way or path of the black belt.

Watch: Sandairyu from Uechi-Ryu

Perform: I actually enjoy Tensho/Rukusho. It's really a dynamic form and my body feels good after doing a few iterations. In tournament, probably Chinto or Kusanku.

Kanshu from Uechi Ryu gets honorable mention as well.

Osu.

At the moment I am favoring Taegeuk Chil Jang both in performance and teaching. The concepts and subtleties are challenging both to student and teacher!
