Basics and Abdominals

Rateh

Recommended Posts

I never realized how much abdominal work is involved in basics. Yesterday was about an hour straight of basics. Most of the stances were deep cat and X stances. We also did a lot of kicking. Today my legs and abdominals are killing me. We didn't do a single sit-up, yet this morning I couldn't even sit up out of bed without using my hands. My stomach hurts just as much as my legs. I'm not sure if it was the kicking, the deep stances, or what. Anyways I just thought I'd share that new insight. :P

Ah yes. Our kicking class is really good about bringing the pain out of the ole abs. It really makes you realize how important a strong core is to the Martial Arts.

Every single movements that gives power to the limbs comes from the core. If your back, abs and chest are not strong, it doesnt matter how much muscle u have on your extremities...

That's a very good sign that you were using your center, your 'core' correctly. you were making precise correct movements and making them with much power. the pain is a good thing, not only does it make you know you're alive it also tells you you're doing your stuff right.

"Smile. Show everyone that today you're stronger than you were yesterday."
