I just got back from my test for 7th kyu. I passed and everything, and although I'm confident that I did my best, the whole experience was just a bummer. Sensei was in a real jerky mood, and he totally screamed at this one teenage guy who was late for the test and just completely made him feel like crap. So that set the mood for the whole grading, and made everyone really nervous, especially the white belts who had never tested before. We all passed though. I just hate coming out of a test feeling like it sucked. I don't even want to go to class next week. I'm in such a bad mood.

Why did I have the bowl, Bart? WHY DID I HAVE THE BOWL???

Congratulations on passing, try not to be to down, just take it with a pinch of salt and be proud to have passed. I can imagine how you feel, i always felt elated after passing a grading....thats the way it should be really.

Walk away and your always a winner. https://www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk

I agree with the others above.

Remember, MA instructors are people too, and none are perfect. One thing that I try not to do is put an MA instructor, especially one of exceptionally high rank, on a pedestal. They are people, and I don't hang on every word they say as the end all, be all. If they do something you don't like or agree with, that is ok. You don't have to agree with them all of the time. You may be their student, but you are still your own person. So stick with it, and you will learn and grow, and be just fine.

Congrats on passing! :karate:

As a student and Instructor, yelling at someone for being late for a test is nothing new. granted it may have set a bad tone, but it is up to those in the test to change that, and get out of that slump. but, i wouldnt take it personally, to heart, or anything like that. i don't think you are more in a bad mood, than you feel bad, for the kid who got yelled at, and the white belts who may have been scared. as for the kid who got yelled at, he deserved it, he wont be late again, as for the white belts i bet you they will never be late ever, as for you, it sounded like you had a pretty good test, so lighten your spirits mate, you did well, and passed, and its just a test. someone told me 'regret the test, but dont regret the rank because you've done more than test to get that rank.' but congrats, and i wouldnt lose sleep over this.

Congrats. As others have said above, don't let the test bother you. You obviously did well and passed and that is the main thing. Your sensei was having an off day but we are all only human.

Congrats on your new rank. I agree with you NewEngland_KyoSa. The student should of not been late to the testing (if it could of been helped)exspecial if told a head of time. I would not worry over it.
