The thing I love best about the style I do is that we have no set form. The motto is "If it works, Use it". The more commited people from class get together on Saturday mornings for sparring and to share different techniques. Starting this weekend we are going to alternate different styles each week (We have a black belt Jiu Jitsu and a highly skilled Muay Thai guy in class)

Even though these guys aren't teachers, Renshi likes the idea that we are making ourselves more well rounded Martial Artists.

I have a reference style which is GoJu ryu karate and I've tried other 3 (yang TCC, Kickboxing, JKD) I think that cross-training is fun and widen your ability. Sooner or later I will try to practice also a fully grappling MA (I'm thinking about Judo)

Can't go wrong with Judo! :)

I had a TKD background, had to quit, and started TSD years later. I didn't point my previous training out to the new instructor, because I didn't want to come off as "I know it all already."

So we start the warm up, and it's reverse punch time. I take my horse stance, he raises an eyebrow, so I know he recognizes that I've done this before. I start my punch from the hip, and he looks as though I just ate his children. His style starts the punch from chest level. Deprogramming from a similar style proved more difficult than starting completely ignorant of the style.

I'd say have a solid foundation in one style, then take something completely different.
