Roundhouse with the end of my foot- not quite sure whether my foot or the board broke more but I was proud of it :D

Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

My favorite break is well, break-fast. Ok only kidding (not completely) I like breaking with a ridgehand. I used a knife hand and sometimes hurt my pinky finger, so the ridgehand seems to correct that problem for me. Breaking is not a large part of what I do, so rarely do I do it. If on occasion I do, it will be with a ridgehand strike.

A clever person solves a problem. A wise person avoids it.

so as a new favorite break, and simply because boards are ridiculously expensive im breaking 3 slabs of ice with a downward elbow on wednesday at a demo. hopefully the clean-up won't be too bad if i put towels underneath. i hope it looks as cool as i picture!:karate:

10 concrete tile caps with a punch and 1 2" x 2" post with a roundrouse kick. Tile caps had chopsticks as spacers.

We don't do breaks at our dojo. I have never attempted it before, although i must admit it looks awesome. To be honest i would be to scared of hurting myself lol :D

It's not as bad as you might think. You just have to focus and believe in your technique. Also start with something easy like some pine board. It's kinda fun when you get to do it.

My favorite break with a kick is what we call an offensive jump round house. It isn't all that hard to do, the jump allows for more force in the technique (at least for me), and looks kind of flashy. My favorite break with a hand is probably a ridge hand strike, though it usually bruises up and hurts the next day.

I had fun doing a 360 roundhouse kick at shoulder height to break a 12x12x1 pine board at my last testing. We don't usually practice breaking outside of the tests.
