When I did my shodan grading back in 2003 it went something like..

2 , 4 hour sessions.

400 (or was it 500?) of each of the basic kicks(front, side, back, mawashi

Same for some punches

Blocks-Shuto uke, outside block, inside block , down block , jodan age uke , and maybe one or 2 others.

Had to just demonstrate a few stances.

Katas were, basically all the katas I knew up to that point.

Pinan 1-5

Nihanshi 1-3

Passai sho and dai

Chinto

Kusanku

Gojushiho

Rohai

Seisan

I really cannot remember which ones were used for the grading itself, it's all such a blur now.

Kumite was just a few rounds of sparring, nothing'fight or die" like you might think.

There was some running, rolls , situps, breakfalls, breaking , an essay, a written exam, and..I had to conduct a short class.

You are having a laugh aren't you? Either that or your school is having one with you. I mean come on! "50 knuckles push ups in parking lot behind dojo"

Ive done a few JKF (Japan Karate Federation) dan gradings and never been asked to do half the mad stuff you were asked to do.

Are you pulling our legs lol!!

Not trying to pull anyones leg just telling what was on our Shodan test.

There were alot of old school back belts over seeing this grading. These guys were putting us through things they went through and what ever the thought would make things hard on us.
