Studying Karate for 9 yrs. Testing was closed session. I wasn't allowed to be there. Only the candidates, uki's and 3 judges. Basically, testing covered everything from White Belt on. Kata's, stances, take downs, sparring, weapons, etc. Every Belt Promotion involved a report on something Martial Arts related. They had to remember the reports in case they were asked about something on them.
