NightOwl Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Um, don't do it. Not only did he act unprofessionally, but someone who is willing to jeopardize their own family and the family of another by starting of an affair is just 'dishonorable' to put it in karate terms, and is being a creep and bad human being. There's no need to hang around or be affiliated with him anymore, and again (although I don't want to be Dr. Phil), it is important to tell your husband since he will eventually find out anyways. Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.~Theodore Roosevelt
bushido_man96 Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 I would stay away. If this happened to my wife, even with the apology, I would not want her around the area. It isn't worth the strife. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Charlie_Shodan Posted October 11, 2007 Author Posted October 11, 2007 Thank you all for your views.... Just 1 question.... if i left to join aother club, would i have to start all over again? The style i do is simular to shotokan but very different at the same time. LIVE ANOTHER DAY, TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY
username8517 Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 That all depends on the style your switching from, but most importantly, the instructor. For example, I used to do a style of okinawa karate back in the late 80 to early 90s, even to the point of getting my Shodan before leaving to study other styles. Then when I came to my current style, another type of okinawa karate, I did have to start from the beginning. However since the majority of the kata and techniques were the same way, the instructor allowed me to skip a few kyu ranks once I got the difference in my techniques and katas down. Now mind you I never asked to jump rank, my instructor simply felt that with my previous training in a very similar style that my skills should dictate my rank while was I was still in the kyu ranks.
bushido_man96 Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Bearich has it on this one. It will usually depend on the instructor, and what he feels about your skill level and how it transmits to the new style. Its not really anything to fret over, though. You won't be truly "starting over." After all, no one can take away the knowledge that you already have. Just don't worry about the rank perspective. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

The style i do is simular to shotokan but very different at the same time.If you transfer to a new school, ;-> you realize point on that the styles are similar, katas etc with only mild differences, have a talk wtih your instructor. If he point blank tells you that "hey, this is my style you have to go through all 10 kyus and beyond, paying me for each one by the way", then find a new school again.
