i get black belt magazine and i love it. it has a wide range of arts and its very informative. also, i have some old issues of tae kwon do times and inside kung fu, but those magazines only focus on the korean and chinese MA's.

+1 for Black Belt magazine. My wife subscribed for me so I don't know the cost.

After reading other threads about MA magazines I probably would never have subscribed myself, "all ads, no good articles..." but BB magazine has plenty of articles of all different levels and any MA you could think of. I'm way behind in my reading of them because of the amount of material.

I also get Black Belt Magazine and Taekwondo Times. I enjoy both publications. I read each from cover to cover. BBMag is monthly, whereas TKD Times is bi-monthly. I have also heard of a UK publication called Traditional Karate. I don't know if you can get here in the states or not, though.

The Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do organization used to put out a magazine as well, however, I haven't gotten one in a while, and don't know if they do anymore. There is also a magazine titled Grappling, I think, if you that is a subject you would like to read up on.

Are there any particular styles of martial art that interest you?

Tae Kwon Do Times

Black Belt

Martial Arts Illustrated

Shotokan Karate Magazine

This is just a few that came up with a search on Google. I just did a search for Martial Arts Magazines. I can't speak to their validity or how good they are. I had a subscription to Black Belt a few years ago. Some of the articles were good. Others were not so good. But you get that from any magazine.

Hope this is helpful.

I am not a fan of Black Belt... I used to subscribe, but there isn't much meat there to qualify for a subscription (I just read it at the bookstore).

I'll have to second Classical Fighting Arts.

Journal of Asian Martial Arts is a quarterly and expensive but very in depth.

Tae Kwon Do times does cover some Tang Soo Do, but there is no TSD specific mag... :(

Traditional Karate from UK is good, but right now their going through a rough political patch with the governing body... Karate over there is a different beast than in the US.

Around me, the borders and barnes & noble carry copies of these mags, so I'd check out a few issues for "research" while you drink a coffee....

I may have to look into these publications. I am always looking for more to read (even though it drives the wife slightly bats :P ).

Jounal of Asian Martial Arts is also very good.

Expensive but with it.
