bushido_man96 Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Does anyone own or have access to train on these bags? I have one of the older model Wavemaster standing bags, but I have not had the opportunity to train on these newer ones. They look like they would be better for working lower line kicks, like the Thai round kick. Is this the case, in anyone else's experiences? Are they worth trading up to? https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
DWx Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 We have one of the numbered ones at our dojang. Their length does makes them good for lower strikes and the numbered one we use is good for improving reaction times if you can find someone to shout out at you. Personally I don't really like using them and prefer a bag. If I were you I wouldn't bother upgrading unless your current one is on its last legs or you happen to have spare cash. Maybe its just me but I don't think the investment is worth it if you already have an older one, it'll all depend on how much and what you use it for. IcemanSK Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 I own an XXL, I think they are great. They "stand up" to more punishment than the old style wavemasters. Being a good fighter is One thing. Being a good person is Everything. Kevin "Superkick" McClinton
bushido_man96 Posted April 29, 2007 Author Posted April 29, 2007 Cool, thanks. What do you mean by a "numbered" bag, DWx? https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

bushido_man96 Posted April 29, 2007 Author Posted April 29, 2007 Wow, that is kind of a novel idea. Thanks for sharing. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
french fri25 Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 i trained extensively on these things. first of all, they tend to slide around a lot, depending on what kind of floor your using. also, if they are used a lot, the padding weakens and you are basically kicking at the plastic center. i dont think they are the most reliabe bags. i would much rather have a hanging bag.
bushido_man96 Posted April 30, 2007 Author Posted April 30, 2007 I would rather have a hanging bag as well, but it just isn't in the cards. So, I go with these. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
