stejitsu Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 What ideas or techniques do you use to keep motivated. Those of us who have trained for numerous years in the martial arts what keeps you ticking? Wing chun helps you find the path to ones inner strength. bushido_man96 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 I have been doing MA for so long now that it is just a habit. If I miss class, I don't feel right, like my day isn't complete.I also use the focus to constantly better myself as a motivating factor. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
marie curie Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 My best motivator is that my fiance and I train together, so cutting out on class makes me feel like I gave up "us" time. You suck-train harder.......................Don't block with your faceA good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving. -Lao Tzu
baronbvp Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 I never regret going once I'm there, so I just suck it up and do it if I don't feel like it. I look forward to it. Also, when I'm stretching or working out at home, I can feel my body toning due to my MA classes.Like Marie Curie's signature says, I suck. So, I train harder. Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move.
learning kempo-karate Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Hello, We always ask how you are doing? We also give nothing but positive comments. Appreciate them coming and training.Thank them for always showing up. (and when they don't we show concerns).Every student is important to us because we feel we are helping them achieve their goals from the martial arts.We also have talks on some of the current events from the news. We also have talks about family life, about growing up, time management skills, social skills,etc...We do change the routines (we have so much material to cover). We also let the students lead the class in many activities (get them more involved).Keeping students from quiting is NOT easy....keeping them modivated and happy with the training is NOT easy... You can offer them varitions of the lessons. The more you can involved the long term students to be an active part of the teaching will help them stay longer.....Aloha
