ShotokanKid
Well, baronbvp, here's a response to "Latest training injury". (I like your avatar by the way)Tonight, a guy fell on my foot (so his butt was on my foot) then fell back on my knee. This forced my knee straight. I fell backwards and was down for around 30 secs- 1 min, it was somewhat painful, on a scale of 1-10, I would say a 5 or 6. I got up, took it slow for a while, but was able to finish off full speed. As I sit writing this, it doesn't hurt, but feels a bit strange. I have three questions:First, how do I know if I messed it up? I think it's okay, can I be sure?Second, if it is damaged, what do I need to do?Last, if it is not seriously damaged, what should I do to make sure it stays okay? Thanks in advance,Joey "What we do in life, echoes in eternity.""We must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men."
Akaratechick
There are so many ways to injure the knees... I'd ice it and give it a few days to a week and see how it feels. If it still hurts or is popping, you'll want to get it xrayed. Knees are kind of tricky especially when another person is involved. strength training for the legs will help the knees. Good luck "All your life you are told the things you cannot do. They will say you're not good enough, strong enough or talented enough; you're the wrong height or the wrong weight or the wrong type to play this or achieve this. THEY WILL TELL YOU NO, a thousand times no, until all the no's become meaningless. ………..…. “AND YOU WILL TELL THEM YES."Nike Ad.
bushido_man96
Here is the answer to all 3 of your questions: Go ask a doctor. He will be able to see it, and mess around with it, and take MRIs, etc., to give you a proper answer, as opposed to an educated guess. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
baronbvp
Well, baronbvp, here's a response to "Latest training injury". (I like your avatar by the way)Thanks for the shout out on the avatar, ShotokanKid. It's also tattooed on my upper right arm. Akaratechick and Bushido Man are right about your knee. Don't mess around with it. Ice that baby down. If you only hyperextended it some as he fell back on it, you may be okay. But there could be some ligament damage, so be careful. For a week or two, I recommend wearing a brace you can buy at any drugstore just to be safe. Don't twist on it.Did you see Joe Paterno (Penn St. Nittany Lions football coach) get his knee hit on the sideline by one of his players this season? Same deal, but the impact was probably worse on his knee than opn yours. He's 80 and suffered a broken leg and ligament damage. Only a doctor can tell you for sure. The fact that it doesn't hurt is a good sign, though. Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. That had to hurt. A LOT! But, all that tough old bird was worried about was not being on the sidelines for the next game! But, still, take all the necessary precautions, and take care of yourself. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
