Feathers of Doom
I’ve been in karate my whole life. i have a very high power level. i haven’t trained in about 3 years though. recently i have become increasingly interested in training again. i haven’t gotten my bag up yet but i started at the basics again. stances and strikes. I’m finding that if i do a reverse punch in the air it hurts my arm. at the end of the strike it feels like my joints are being pulled apart. this could just be because I’m not making contact with anything but does anyone have any excursuses that can strengthen the joints to handle my punches? When practicing Nunchaku, it is best not to stand under lights....seriously; I have broken more lights that way.
lordtariel
Make sure you aren't locking your arm or hyperextending it at the end of the punch, I belive it damages the ulnar nerve(nerve in your elbow which is attributed to the 'funny bone' sensation) which can cause pain from your shoulder to your wrist. This is what causes tennis elbow, or as my sensei calls it: karate elbow. There's no place like 127.0.0.

baronbvp
Get the bag up and see if contact eases things. Have you hurt yourself during the three years off? Been typing a lot on a keyboard, per chance? Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move. I never thought of that. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
baronbvp
I sense that you are leading into carpel-tunnel here?Yep. It's brutal but increasingly common. It is also insidious. I can no longer do reverse grip bar curls because the outsides of my elbow joints hurt too much when I do them. I used to do line work in a manufacturing plant, and I could start to feel the problems developing in my wrists and hands from the repetitive motions. Luckily, I got promoted to work in the wharehouse, so I got off the line. I think that saved my hands. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
