Jack Posted May 29, 2002 Author Posted May 29, 2002 First of all searcher, welcome to Karateforums.com! Yes, I've heard the term BUD/S used before here. I have a friend who's uncle was in the SAS, and I am going to find out what some of the BUD/S or actual training was like for them. And I like that quote a lot, it applies lot when it comes down to the real difficult training. JackCurrently 'off' from formal MA trainingKarateForums.com
Phantasmatic Posted May 30, 2002 Posted May 30, 2002 I have heard that BUD/S is very tough. I have seen the show on the Discovery Channel, it is really cool. I start this workout on Monday wish me luck! "Which one is more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?" - Obi Wan Kenobi
Jack Posted May 31, 2002 Author Posted May 31, 2002 Good luck Phanta! I started this BUD/S programme this monday, so we're sort of in the same stage. JackCurrently 'off' from formal MA trainingKarateForums.com
searcher Posted May 31, 2002 Posted May 31, 2002 Jack, thanks for the welcome, this sight is awesome. I have done the BUD/S workout before and it is tough, but keep in mind that your mind is the key and you will do just fine. "let those who shed blood with me be forever known as my brother."
Jack Posted May 31, 2002 Author Posted May 31, 2002 Glad you like the sight. I always keep things like that in mind, I end up repeating phrases in my head to keep me going when the going gets tough. By the way, just out of curiosity - which BUD/S Workout did you do? The SEALs, Marines, SAS, or other? JackCurrently 'off' from formal MA trainingKarateForums.com
Phantasmatic Posted June 3, 2002 Posted June 3, 2002 I'm gonna start tomorrow, I can't wait!!!! "Which one is more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?" - Obi Wan Kenobi
Phantasmatic Posted June 3, 2002 Posted June 3, 2002 My goodness, that is a lot of work, my calfs are burning!! IT FEELS OH SO GOOOD!! I would recommend for everyone on this site to do this excercise!! I was close to throwing up on the last stretch of the 2nd mile though!! Jack Posted June 3, 2002 Author Posted June 3, 2002 Hehe yep, I didn't have the time to go to the running track today so I stationary cycled for half an hour, broke my stationary cycle, did horseriding punches for 5-10 minutes, dragged myself outside to hang up the punchbag and hit that until I was suitably knackered... was about as tough as those runs. Don't forget to eat plenty Phanta unless you want to lose muscle, get plenty of good complex carbs and protein. Good work Phanta, keep it up and you'll see results, I know I already am and I'm only in the second week! JackCurrently 'off' from formal MA trainingKarateForums.com
Phantasmatic Posted June 3, 2002 Posted June 3, 2002 Thanks a lot, I just ate a subway club so I think I am ready to go on Wednesday!!!! I love subway, they are so healthy for you and are loaded with carbs and protein!!! I think I need to get a pair of running shoes so my feet don't feel like I just stepped on an iron skillet!! My feet really were starting to hurt because of the run, I run on our blacktop driveway down and back 4 times. It is roughly 1.8 miles but there are some inclines so I think it evens out!!! Immediately I jumped into our swimming pool and busted out some freestyle swimming. After that I got out and started doing my pushups and situps. I like to do one set of pushups then one set of situps then one set of pushups, and so on. I don't do karate in this excercise because I leave that for the dojo. And after all of that, it is really tough to pull of a respectable front kick!!! "Which one is more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?" - Obi Wan Kenobi
