baronbvp Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Tonight was my first night of full-contact sparring in Muay Thai. Wow. It's been a long time since I went like that. It was only one round of 2 minutes, but this was at the end of our hour and a half workout session. It was great fun! The rest of the post is under Kickboxing on Cross' "First Night of Boxing" thread. Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move.
bushido_man96 Posted February 22, 2007 Author Posted February 22, 2007 2-21-07Conditioning:Stairs: 3x45 seconds, 1 min. rest (I could really feel that extra 15 seconds!!)Steppers: 3x30 seconds, 1 min. restTechnique work:Jumping 2-Direction kick (scissor kick): I did this kick at least 10 times, each side. I also practiced just the scissoring action of the chambers, and bursting and jumping.Twist kick: I did this one several times to help with the jumping kick. I actually kicked on the bag. It is difficult, finding the proper angle to keep the toes comfortable.I then did Combat Hapkido for an hour: 4:30 - 5:30. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

baronbvp Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Oh, bummer! Mine was delayed due to snow shoveling. Yours is a better reason. Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move.

lordtariel Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 My sensei taught me a dirty, ugly word yesterday... Polymetrics We did 20 minutes of sprint drills, an entire hour of polymetric training(15-30 seconds between), then an additional 15 minutes of continuous sparring. I haven't worked that hard in a long time, although sparring when exhausted is an interesting experience. Never know when you'd need to turn and fight after running some distance. There's no place like 127.0.0.1
baronbvp Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Only one hour of MT tonight. All young guys again except for me. Great workout but I'm getting tired of being barefoot on a laminate floor. Not all the seams are tight and it is not the best surface on which to train.I had to leave before sparring since my sons were finishing swimming lessons in the pool downstairs where I take my class, but it was just as well. After being corrected during four hours of German lessons today and one hour of Muay Thai, I'd had enough of other people telling me I suck. NightOwl Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 So what's rougher...German or Muay Tai? Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.~Theodore Roosevelt
