singularity6
I went to class for the first time in a month (work and other things have been keeping me busy!)We started off with stretching. Then the class warm-up was practicing some basic techniques up and down the dojang. Once we were warmed up, the instructors brought out the mats, and I was repeatedly thrown for an hour. Good times! Some things I noticed from taking time off:*I use a fighting stance for my bag work at home. This made holding a stance during warm up a bit more challenging than it used to be.*I really need to improve my upper body strength. 5th Geup Jidokwan Tae Kwon Do/Hap Ki Do(Never officially tested in aikido, iaido or kendo)

It was a smaller session this time around, but we had a good crew that was willing to work hard. We covered some weapon retention standing and on the ground, some headlock and choke defenses (both standing, against a wall, and on the ground), and some ground work involving how to recover position from guard, how to get to guard from side mount. A good session.5/21/2018Taught TKD Class: 6:00 - 7:00 pm. Basics, forms, one-steps, sparring. In basics, I had the students do some drills to get them to concentrate on keeping their chamber legs up high when rechambering kicks and prior to setting them down, that way they were controlling their legs and not letting them drop or get pulled down.5/24/2018TKD Testing: 6:15 - 8:00 pm. We had two skunk-belts test for first dan, and they both did well. We also had a first dan test for second dan, and several colored belt ranks. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
bushido_man96
5/29/2018Taught TKD Class: 6:00 - 7:00 pm. Since it was the week after testing, we loosened things up a bit, and had a kicking class. After doing an abbreviated session of basics to warm up, I rolled out the Wavemasters and the kicking paddles, and we did a bunch of kicking. Good class and a nice change of pace.5/30/2018Taught TKD Class: 6:00 - 7:00 pm. For the meat of this class, I had the kids doing a forms challenge, testing them on their lower ranked material. The did really well for the most part, but there were a few forms we spent some time reviewing with the class. We finished up with some more kicking on the paddles.6/6/2018Taught TKD Class: 6:00 - 7:00 pm. After basics, we spent a lot of time on forms, learning new forms after getting testing results in. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

bushido_man96
Ok, so I've been off a while. Its that point in the year where my schedule rotates me to afternoon and early evening shifts, which interfere with just about everything a normal person wants to do with his life. But now, I've got time to get to the gym, and priority one is to drop some weight. So I've made a deal with the devil, I mean Cardio, and have spent the past three sessions doing some elliptical and bike work at the gym.On 10/20 and 10/22/2018, I spent around 20 minutes on ellipticals. Today, 10/23/2018, I spent about 35 minutes on bike, and then did a light stretch. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
bushido_man96
More cardio....10/24, 10/26, and on 10/29. I'm usually hopping on the elliptical right now, which tends to work my legs more, but doesn't mess with my knees much.Right now, I'm averaging four days per week. I'm happy with that. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
bushido_man96
I got some more cardio in on 10/31 and 11/2, Wednesday and Friday. The elliptical seems to give me the most workout, but the bike is a nice change of pace. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
bushido_man96
11/5, 11/7, and 11/10 were three more cardio days (M/W/F). On Wed and Fri, I got a full 30 minutes, uninterrupted, on the elliptical and bike, respectively. I'm not sure if its helping yet, but it can't be hurting.Soon, I should be able to start making it back to class. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
