-Heavy bag work, 15min.

-Drilled combinations 15min.

-A couple of rounds of "friendly" Kyokushin sparring.

3 Feb 2016

-25min high intensity cardio/barbell/kettlebell circuits:

.....30sec of starjumps/jumpingjacks/skipping/etc

.....10 reps squats/militarypress/swings/etc

-Quick abs with medicine ball (7kg).

-10min free single/short knife work.

-Warm down and quick stretch.

1000 kicks endurance game on heavy bag:

20 sets of 50 kicks - as little rest as possible.

-Jodan Hiza.

-Mae Keage.

-Gedan Mawashi.

-Chudan Mawashi.

-Jodan Mawashi.

-Yoko Keage.

-Chudan Yoko Geri.

-Ushiro Geri.

-Kin Geri.

-Uchi Mawashi.

-Soto Mawashi.

-Jodan Mae Geri.

-Chudan Mae Geri.

-Combo #1 = Mae Keage / Jodan Hiza / Jodan Mae Geri.

-Combo #2 = Inside thigh / Outside thigh (Gedan Mawashi).

-Switch knees clinching bag.

-Switch Chudan Mae Geri.

Quick abs (just crunches with legs around heavy bag, punches at top of incline).

Strength Training: 3x3 week

Squats: warm-ups: 45x5x2, 135x5, 165x5, 195x5; work sets: 220.5x3, 252x3, 283.5x7.

Deadlifts: 160x10, 160x10, 160x10, 160x10, 160x10.

Defensive Tactics Club: 1:30 - 2:30 pm. Worked with one of the guys on kicking, doing lots of front leg and back leg push kicks holding the kicking shield. Also worked on front leg and back leg round kicks. On the front leg kicks, we worked on stepping kicks, and also on not stepping.

Strength Training: 3x3 week

Press: warm-ups: 45x5x3, 65x5, 85x5; work sets: 98x3, 112x3, 126x5; assistance sets: 70x10, 70x10, 70x10, 70x10, 70x10.

Assisted chins: 135x10, 10, 10 (supersetted).

Lat pull-downs: 130x10, 10, 10, 10, 10 (supersetted).

Barbell curls: 55x10, 10, 10, 10, 10 (supersetted).

Defensive Tactics Club: 1:30 - 2:30 pm. Today, I really decided to test my buddy's level of dedication: I worked with him on side kicks :D. We did some work lying on the ground first, the using the wall for balance, and then did some good ole-fashioned floor drills. He really liked the feeling the next day.

-60min Kyokushin class.

8 Feb 2016.

-45 min medium intensity cardio using light sled for push/pull runs.

9 Feb 2016.

-Single knife work, using balisong. 15min. pretty much just playing around.

10 Feb 2016

-10min stretch and warm up.

-45min heavy bag work - focus on speed and technique for mawashi geri, for the last 10min once form deteriorated, focus on power shots. Followed techniques from here:

-Pushups on knuckles to exhaustion.

-5min very light cardio.

-Clapping pushups to exhaustion (clap hands, touch thighs before landing in ready position).

-Super set = straight leg deadlift / military press.

-Drop set = curls.

-Dropset = press.

-3x sets kettle bell swings at 10 reps each.

-Pushups on knuckles to exhaustion.

-10min stretch to warm down.

1 hr - Assist teaching the pee wee class...!

1hr - Assist Junior class! - Knockdown work outs for the older and senior students.

Preparation work for when they join the senior class!

Senior class

90 mins - time body conditioning mixed though out general exercise.

20x Situps

20x pushups

20x squats

- repeated 3 times - separated with strikes (bag work)

Bag work.

x30 strikes - oi tsuki followed by gyaku tsuki

x30 strikes - oi tsuki followed by shita tsuki.

x30 strikes - oi tsuki, gyaku tsuki followed by shita tsuki

30x Situps

30x pushups

30x squats

- repeated 3 times - separated with kicks (bag work)

1 hr - pulling my hair helping teach the pee wee class...!

1hr - Junior class! - General kihon and Knockdown work outs.

Preparation work for when they join the senior class!

Senior class.

1hr leg combos.....3 - 4 - 5- kick combinations.

1 hr fights 50% 'ish!

-20min walk+jog to local oval.

-Pyramid hill sprints (5 sets):

.........Sprint up, 5/4/3/2/1 sit-ups.

.........Sprint down, 5/4/3/2/1 pushups.

-Stair sprint (5 sets):

.........Sprint up, 5/4/3/2/1 pull-ups.

-------Sprint down, 5/4/3/2/1 pushups.

-Incline sit-ups with partner holding mits, punches at top.

-Static leg stretching 5min.

-Squat kicks.

-Stair sprint.

-Pullups to exhaustion.

-5min static leg stretching.

-20min walk.

-400 metre sprint home.

-10min cool down.

Its a great feeling assisting the junior grades, and being in a position to drive them to further greatness Hawkmoon! :)

Instructing is one of the things I miss most about not having the dojo easily accessible to me at the moment.

Strength Training: 5/3/1 week

Squat: warm-ups: 45x5x2, 135x5, 165x5, 195x5; work sets: 236.5x5, 268x3, 300x5. Felt good to get back into the 300s with the work sets.

2/4/2016

Strength Training: 5/3/1 week

Press: warm-ups: 45x5x3, 65x5, 85x5; work sets: 105x5, 119x3, 133x3; assistance sets: 70x10, 70x10, 70x10, 70x10, 70x10.

Assisted chins: 125x9, 8, 8 (supersetted with press).

Lat pull-downs: 130x10x5 (supersetted with press).

Barbell curls: 56x10x5 (supersetted with press).

Strength Training: 5/3/1 week

2/8/2016

Taught TKD Class: 6:00 - 7:00 pm. Heavy on basics, then forms and one-steps.

2/9/2016

Strength Training: deload week

Squat: 45x5x2, 126x5, 157.5x5, 189x5.

Defensive Tactics Class: 10:30 - 11:45 am. Coach worked with some of the pressure points we hit on in some of our techniques, and also reviewed bully-choke defense.

Defensive Tactics Club: 1:30 - 3:00 pm. Worked on our "jits-flow," consisting of armbar from guard, to triangle choke from guard, to omo plata from guard. Also worked the Kimura from guard, and the hip-bump reversal. After reviewing all that, we worked on defesne to a stack of an armbar, and also a stack pass from the triangle. Good session.

Taught TKD Class: 6:00 - 7:00 pm. Basics, focusing a bit more on some side kicks. Forms, and one-steps.

Yes it is to be honest ( I'm aware I present the activity as some kind of chore, its not, thats just my humor.)

To see them act on what is said or put into practice a concept is rewarding ... teaching is not my thing just now, not something I'm driving towards.

I consider myself a student now and for some time to come, but they see and respect my input and views which is nice ... even a surprise tbh!

1hr Pee-wee class

1 hr junior class - Clicker and speed work.

Senior class.

Conditioning work - an hour mixed through the night with bag (leg) work.

New training aid - rope!

- pull rope taught across the the hall, crotch high, mawashi geri followed by ushiro mawashi geri - left, once over the rope repeat - right, keep going until you reach the end, then repeat.

x5

kick at the rope mai geri, aim to hit the rope (as a target) with the ball of the foot.

Conditioning work over the rope making contact with your training partner on the other side holding a bag at chudan then jodan height!

Finish the night with kata.

All pinan kata to a count of 4!

17/2/16

1hr Pee-wee class

1 hr junior class - Clicker and speed work.

Senior class.

Whole night fights (25-50%) mixed with conditioning work.
