12 August 2014.

-30 min Kyokushin kids class to warm up.

-120min Kyokushin lesson, focus on kumite and body conditioning.

13 Aug 2014.

-Knuckle conditioning, 20min.

-2 sets pushups on knuckles until exhaustion.

Drilled guillotiine choke. Tripod defense to choke. Single side weave sweep to counter.

20 min free roll.

30 min PTK footwork and cutting attacks to bridging fundamentals.

8/15

90 min free roll.

PTK: drill fluid 5 cuts, forward and reverse triangle work w strikes. Bridging.

8/16

Drilled arm bar transitions.

30 min free roll.

Moved into PTK fundamentals. Review of forward and reverse triangles. Mixed up striking patterns. Added L footwork. Bridging, requiring work.

Finished with fluid bridging.

17 Aug 2014.

-7hr Kyokushin seminar. Drilled a lot of throws, locks and grappling/takedowns.

-Finished with tameshiwari.

8/18

Drilled closed guard to high guard transition. Moved into arm bar, leg over arm bar, and shoulder crank series.

40 min free roll.

Moved into PTK flow with the fluid 5 series. Then bridging. Then varying the bridging on different beat. Then some distance sparring and a few short rounds of technical sparring.

19 Aug 2014.

-10min warm up and stretch.

-Drilled kihon 30min. Basic strikes/blocks and kicks 10 for technique and 20 for speed/power of each.

-All pinan kata.

-30min of med-high intensity cardio. 1min on, 30sec off. Everything from star jumps to switch kicks and moving punching combinations.

-20 burpees (with pushup and press) with 8kg medicine ball.

-1min mountain climbers.

-1min double unders.

-Pushups to exhaustion.

-10min warm down.

EDIT: Got bored after dinner.

Superset:

-Upright dumbbell rows 15/12/10/10/10.

-Dumbbell curls 15/12/10/10/10.

-Incline bench dumbbell hammer curls 15/12/10/10/10.

-5min warm up.

-30min heavy bagwork, light-med intensity, focus on technique and speed.

-20min kata (Pinans, Gekusai Dai/Sho, Tensho, Tsuki-no and Saiha).

-5min warm down.

Superset 1:

-Bench press 20/15/12/10/5/8/16.

-Lat pulldown with wide protonated grip 20/15/12/10/5/8/16.

Superset 2:

-Dumbbell incline press 10/10/10/10.

-One arm dumbbell row 10/10/10/10.

-5min leg stretching.

17 Aug 2014.

-7hr Kyokushin seminar. Drilled a lot of throws, locks and grappling/takedowns.

-Finished with tameshiwari.

I went to a 2 day Kyokushin seminar a few weeks ago...quite the workout. Missed out on the testing because I had to get home but I heard the kumite was quite spirited.

Usual workouts on Monday and Wednesday. Kihon and kata on Monday (learning a new kata) and kicking and pad work on Wednesday. Running on Sunday (9 miles), Tuesday (6 miles), and Wednesday (4 miles). Planning on a 7 mile run tomorrow morning. Lots more mileage than I need for MA but it's enjoyable, especially with the cooler weather we have been getting in New England recently.

8/22

Drilled triangle to two armbar transitions. 35 min free roll.

2 hours PTK working fluid attacks focusing on 1 and 2 and bridging. Lots of flow work.

8/23

30 min free roll.

Picked up with last night PTK material and built into full bridging with attacks 3 and 4 as well.
