They are both contact sports!

Now if I was speaking German while doing Muay Thai, my head would explode. I actually may do that next year when I move to Germany. There's a place called MMA Berlin I am interested in: http://www.mma-berlin.de/

More pain!!

My sensei taught me a dirty, ugly word yesterday... Polymetrics :P We did 20 minutes of sprint drills, an entire hour of polymetric training(15-30 seconds between), then an additional 15 minutes of continuous sparring. I haven't worked that hard in a long time, although sparring when exhausted is an interesting experience. Never know when you'd need to turn and fight after running some distance.

Ah, plyometrics are WONDERFUL! Aren't they? :-? I know how much they can hurt!

Technique work: 5:00 - 5:30

Cable machine Reverse punches in front stance: 10x40 lbs, 10x50 lbs, 10x60 lbs.

Form work: I was going through my form, Gae-Baek, and taking notes on it for written documentation purposes. You can really learn quite a lot about a form this way.

Combat Hapkido from 5:30 - 6:00.

Kicking Class from 6:00 - 7:00. We started out with about 15 minutes of footwork drills. Then, we moved on to doing paddle/reaction time drills. We also did some work on the kicking shields, doing fast kicks, returning the foot to the ground, and firing off with the other leg. We finished the paddle drills with the some axe kicks. Then, before ending class, I did some jump scissor kick practice, and also worked on a jumping kick between to kicking shields, jumping off the right, and kicking with the right leg into the bag on the left (round kick), and then firing the same leg back into the bag on the right (side kick) before setting down. I wasn't very high in the air, but both kicks were in the air!

Good job, Bushido Man! That kind of kicking talent is not common, my friend. That's why I'm a puncher.

Just returned from my first night of JKD. I really like the school, the head instructor, the people who train there, and the environment. These are all requirements for a good training match.

We talked some philosophy while we warmed up. Tonight we focused on blocking kicks with the knee, or stopping the kick with the foot, and avoiding kicks altogether. Avoiding contact is always better than blocking. :) Lots of drilling and then sparring with only kicks and defenses against them.

It is a very mellow yet serious training environment, aggressive but with humor. I was very comfortable. I think I have found a new home.

PS - My Thai round kick is improving. :)

Thanks, Baron. However, I need lots of work on my scissor kicks, yet. I am intrigued by it though, and want to get to where I can do board breaks with it.

I am glad to see you found a JKD school that you like. I think it would be fun to do as well. I would love to see how these schools structure things.

Did light lifting without killing myself this time around...hoping to go back in tomorrow...

Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.
